Davante Adams became the fastest Packers receiver to 500 career receptions thanks to his touchdown against the Bears on Sunday Night Football.

All Davante Adams needed on Sunday Night Football was a catch. Any old catch would get him to 500 hundred in his career, becoming one of just five Packers to ever reach that mark.

Adams got his catch in the first quarter against the Bears while Green Bay got a touchdown.

The seventh-year pro pulled down the pass from Aaron Rodgers to give the Packers an early lead over their division foe. In doing so, he became the fastest player in franchise history to reach 500 receptions. By doing it in 95 games, he beat Sterling Sharpe by one game, per Packers digital reporter Wes Hodkiewicz.

Davante Adams isn’t slowing down as Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target

It wasn’t certain Adams would be able to play on Sunday night. He has been dogged by an ankle injury for weeks and didn’t practice on Thursday. However, he suited up on Friday and was clearly up for the action on Sunday.

Adams has been a Pro Bowler each of the last three years and he’s making an argument for a fourth-straight nod this year. He is averaging a career-high 105.9 yards per game and is maintaining his best catch percentage of his career. In eight games coming into the night, he had 68 catches for 847 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Packers are in control of the NFC North with a 7-3 record. If they dispatch the 5-5 Bears,  their claim to the division title will be all but settled. Since they last lost to the Colts, Sunday’s home game would be a chance to get things back on track.

The Bears are still in range of grabbing a playoff spot, but an upset win would go a long way to keeping hope from fading on that front.
