2020 NFL power rankings, Week 13: Titans roll, Raiders humbled
Sean McVay’s club had dropped three consecutive games to the rival 49ers and looked to avoid being swept in this rivalry for the second straight year.
Quarterback Jared Goff had his issues holding onto the football and has three of the Rams’ four turnovers, with one of his two picks returned for a score. Down by 11 in the third quarter, Los Angeles took a 20-17 lead early in the fourth quarter but could not stop San Francisco when it counted most.
Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick was back behind center in place of rookie Tua Tagovailoa, who was nursing a thumb injury (via NFL.com’s Kevin Patra), as Brian Flores’ team looked to sweep the Jets. The ageless quarterback overcame four sacks by throwing for 257 yards and two scores.
The Miami defense limited winless New York to 260 total yards, sacked Sam Darnold three times and picked him off twice. Flores’ club evened its record vs. the AFC East to 2-2.
For the second time in three weeks, the Colts and Titans collided and this time the game would be at Lucas Oil Stadium. And Frank Reich’s team was in position to sweep the series after winning at Nashville, 34-17.
But the Indianapolis defense certainly missed defensive tackle DeForest Buckner as Derrick Henry and company rolled up 229 yards rushing. The Colts owned the NFL’s second-ranked defense entering Week 12 but gave up 449 yards.
