College football DFS picks December 3: Darden of Eden
By Mike Marteny
College football DFS wide receiver picks December 3:
Top Tier:
Jaelon Darden is the most expensive player on the slate and he’s worth more than his current price. No matter who has been the quarterback, Darden has produced. He has at least one touchdown in all eight games that he’s played in and only Rice and SMU were able to hold him under 100 yards. Lock him in!
Middle Tier:
The dropoff in price is steep at receiver, but the production may not be so steep. With the departure of Henderson, the most explosive player in the La Tech offense is Smoke Harris. The back and forth at quarterback has hurt his stats, but Harris’s upside is as good as anyone not named Darden.
I’m a huge fan of Justin McGriff here even if I don’t have much faith in his quarterback. With Deven Thompkins and Jaylen Warren both gone, McGriff is the only proven piece of the offense. Look for him to be involved early and often.
Bargain Shoppers:
The only reason to play Brandon Lewis is because he sometimes carries the ball in the Air Force triple option and he’s listed as a WR. He only has 15 targets on the season and one touchdown. There’s no guarantee that he’ll get you anything.
Deonte Simpson is reasonably priced for a number two receiver, but he doesn’t have the game breaking ability that Savon Scarver has. Scarver will take on a larger role without Thompkins while still returning kicks.
The number two behind Smoke Harris isn’t so clear. Jawaun Johnson seems to be in the target share department. Griffin Hebert seems to be the deep option, but considering the back and forth at quarterback, Johnson is my favorite option if you’re going to dig this deep.
