Fantasy Stars & Studs, Week 12: Tyreek Hill can be crucial contributor
Kirk Cousins – Minnesota Vikings
Cousins has not been a reliable fantasy quarterback in 2020, yet his performances in recent weeks have seen him provide starter-level value.
The former Washington signal-caller was third among all quarterbacks in Week 12 fantasy scoring through Sunday behind only Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, Cousins having completed 34 of his 45 passes for 307 yards and three touchdowns.
It was the second straight week in which Cousins threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns and the second successive week in which he did not throw an interception, though he lost a fumble in each of those games. Since his awful three-interception performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, Cousins has avoided being picked off in four of the last five games.
His chemistry with Offensive Rookie of the Year contender Justin Jefferson continues to grow, with Cousins’ appeal in fantasy play increased by the favorable matchup he has in Week 13.
Next up for Cousins and the Vikings is the awful defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The smart money says Cousins, Jefferson and Adam Thielen – provided he comes off the reserve/COVID-19 list – should have little difficulty exploiting the Jacksonville secondary.
Owned in 40 percent of Yahoo leagues and 21 percent of ESPN leagues, Cousins is readily available and – as the Vikings push for what had previously looked an unlikely playoff berth – he is an addition that could help secure some places in the fantasy postseason.
