Of course, the New York Yankees make the list of an impending free agent slugger. It’s tradition!

While they normally prioritize signing the top available players on the open market, this offseason will be different for the Bronx Bombers. The Yankees aren’t expected to spend a ton of money in free agency, with the lone exception being infielder D.J. LeMahieu, whom the team has prioritized re-signing this winter. The Yankees are in need for outfielder depth. Clint Frazier has emerged as an everyday outfielder for the team, alongside Aaron Hicks and star Aaron Judge. The problem is that the two Aaron’s have a tendency to get bitten by the injury bug. Additionally, the Yankees declined Brett Gardner’s $10 million option, so there’s not much depth in the outfield besides Mike Tauchman.

Look, the Yankees aren’t going to be going after the big-name outfielders like George Springer or Marcell Ozuna. It’s simply not going to happen. But Schwarber could be an intriguing option for the Yankees.

In the aforementioned 2019 campaign, Schwarber hit 38 home runs, knocked in 92 runs and recorded a slugging-percentage of .531 in 155 games. Can you imagine the numbers he can put up in a full season at the short porch of Yankee Stadium? That could be enticing enough for general manager Brian Cashman to send an offer his way. If the Yankees are serious about trying to contend for the World Series, they should consider it.
