3. Trubisky tallies between 20 and 30 fantasy points

When we use the term “startable,” we mean in deep leagues or if you stream at the quarterback position. Don’t bench Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes in favor of Trubisky.

The Bears were destroyed by the Packers on Sunday Night Football. Truth be told, Trubisky did not look all that competent. Yet, it is unlikely that the Bears coaching staff wants to play hot potato at the most important position on the football field. Barring injury, Trubisky is likely in the saddle for the rest of 2020 before he finds a reservist gig somewhere else next season.

Trubisky did accumulate some decent garbage-time stats against Green Bay. For your fantasy team’s sake, who cares? Points are points.

This week, the Bears take on the Detroit Lions, a team notorious for poor defense vs. quarterbacks. Detroit gift-wraps 23 points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and Trubisky is athletic enough to use his legs to push the outer limits of this total. For an NFL ranking in the metric, the Lions are sixth-worst leaguewide in fantasy points surrendered to quarterbacks.

The game will be tight, and Trubisky will produce upward of 20 points and perhaps in the high-20s. Should Chicago leave Soldier Field victorious, they will maintain a puncher’s chance in the NFC playoff race.
