MLB rumors: 3 teams that could offer Cubs best return for Kris Bryant
By Mark Powell
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are in the business of improving year-to-year, and are willing to pay whatever price to make that a reality. Andrew Friedman is the executive of the year for a reason, and he has plenty of young talent to play with. Justin Turner is a free agent, and there hasn’t been much progress made on a new deal. Not to mention, the off-field COVID-19 fiasco during the Dodgers World Series celebration might have hurt his value.
Friedman is on the record as wanting to add another impact right-handed bat this offseason. I know precisely where he can find one, and it’s on the north side of Chicago. Bryant is a prime bounce-back candidate. While he may never regain MVP form, Bryant was an All-Star in 2019. He’s capable of reaching a 30 home run, 100 RBI season with ease should he stay healthy. The fit makes sense.
The Dodgers have one of the best farm systems in all of baseball, and beyond even the initial top-10 there are plenty of diamonds in the rough the Cubs should jump at should they be offered as part of a package for Bryant. Los Angeles doesn’t have a third baseman at the moment, and are looking to repeat. Make it happen.
