College football DFS quarterback picks December 5:

Top Tier:

It’s strange to see a Virginia Tech defense perform this poorly. Trevor Lawrence made up for lost time with a monster line last week. It could be even better here. The Hokies allow 273.8 passing yards per game and has surrendered 16 touchdowns through the air in nine games. That’s not horrible, but they haven’t faced anyone like Lawrence either. If you’re going to spend the money, I like Lawrence over Rattler. Baylor’s defense is at least acceptable. I can’t say the same for the Hokies right now.

Duke doesn’t allow the yards through the air, but they are allowing touchdowns. That doesn’t matter a whole lot when assessing D’Eriq King’s value. He’s a good runner too. That’s even better news. Duke is allowing 200 rushing yards per game and a staggering 22 touchdowns on the ground through nine games. King has slate-breaking potential here.

Middle Tier:

The Cal pass defense has been on point this year. That’s not where Oregon is going to beat them. For the price, I’d much rather have Mac Jones against LSU. The LSU defense is better, but I think that’s more a product of A&M not having the receivers to attack away from Stingley. Alabama has that. Jones should be in for a nice game here.

The Arizona pass defense isn’t giving up a ton of yards and they’ve only allowed four passing touchdowns in three games, but they haven’t intercepted a pass either. This isn’t a great spot for Sam Noyer, but it’s plenty good enough to use him here. Despite a tough game against San Diego State, Noyer still put up 15.72 DraftKings points. That’s a decent floor.

I still don’t trust the Oklahoma secondary and Charlie Brewer is cheap enough that he’s begging to be used. I know that makes him sound like a hooker, but you’ll get more bang for your buck out of Brewer than your local corner hustler.

Bargain Shoppers:

You wouldn’t know it by the UCLA game, but Colorado’s defense has actually been solid so far this year. Solid enough that I don’t think we need to take a chance on Arizona’s quarterback situation.

Chase Garbers has been solid but unspectacular. That’s about what we’ve come to expect from him. Oregon’s pass defense is middle of the pack, so Garbers is a decent play for his price. Oregon’s main weakness is rush defense, but Cal doesn’t have a strong rushing attack. We saw Garbers take off a few times against Stanford last week. There’s a little bit of sneaky value here.

Terry Wilson’s price has plummeted thanks to two horrible outings over the last two weeks. The silver lining is that those games were against Florida and Alabama. Wilson’s price is excellent for the matchup against South Carolina. I really like him as a punt on here.
