College football upset alert No. 3: Oklahoma State Cowboys
Rank: 15 | Opponent: at TCU Horned Frogs | Time: Saturday, Dec. 5, Noon ET
Considering how abbreviated the 2020 season has been, it’s wild to think of how tumultuous things have been for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. They started the year by getting a scare from Tulsa — before we realized how good the Golden Hurricane are, too — and lost quarterback Spencer Sanders to injury in that game.
Yet, the Cowboys stayed unbeaten for the next month, including a thrilling win over Iowa State. But even with Sanders’ return, things have gotten hairy since. Oklahoma State has lost to Texas in overtime, beaten Kansas State by just two points, gotten blown out by Oklahoma and then barely scraped by Texas Tech in a shootout since Halloween.
To put it plainly, Mike Gundy‘s team is not in the best spot right now and it seems like they are ripe to be picked off by a team that looks inferior. And that’s a dangerous spot for a team to have to go on the road to Fort Worth and face Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday afternoon in Week 14.
TCU has had their share of ups and downs but the Horned Frogs have been nothing but solid throughout the year en route to a 4-4 record. With an offense that can show some explosiveness from time to time and a defense that, at worst, is well-coached, TCU could earn a signature upset victory at home on Saturday.
