DeMar DeRozan after chasing away home intruder: ‘I’ve been through worse’
DeMar DeRozan chased off an intruder in his home who got near his kids.
It’s hard to think of something more terrifying than a home intruder coming face-to-face with your children while you’re not around.
Luckily, San Antonio Spurs wing DeMar DeRozan was there to chase one away when such an unwelcome visitor broke into his home last month.
According to TMZ Sports, a man broke into DeRozan’s house on Nov. 19 and made his way upstairs to an area where one of DeRozan’s kids was playing. The 31-year-old Spurs star heard the commotion, raced upstairs, came face-to-face with the intruder and chased him out of the house.
According to law enforcement, the man later returned to the property, but security for the gated community stopped him and called the police. The suspect claimed he was trying to get into Kylie Jenner’s house instead but had made mistake. He has since been arrested and charged with felony burglary.
DeMar DeRozan protected his kids in a terrifying situation
DeRozan acted nobly to protect his family and his house from the home intruder, but when he was asked about the scary situation, he downplayed it, saying, “I grew up in Compton, California. I’ve been through worse.”
To be fair, he probably isn’t wrong about that, and the sight of a 6-foot-6, muscular DeMar DeRozan coming charging up those stairs probably set that home invader straight and scared him right off the premises. Even so, it’s a relief to hear DeRozan and his family are doing all right after such an alarming situation in what has already been a harrowing year.
