Baker Mayfield channels his inner Dwight Schrute when discussing the Cleveland Browns’ victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

For the first time since 2007, the Cleveland Browns have a winning record. The Browns entered Week 13 with an 8-3 record, and they had the opportunity to secure their ninth win of the season if they could manage to defeat the Tennessee Titans. On Sunday, the Browns held a 38-7 lead at halftime and held on just enough to win 41-35, thanks in part to the tremendous play of quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Following the victory, Mayfield was asked about his progression in 2020 following a disappointing campaign in 2019. The former first overall pick, who has been dropping some pop culture references in recent weeks, decided to channel his inner Dwight Schrute to answer the question.

When’s Mayfield going to quote Michael Scott?

Those are words of wisdom famously uttered on the hit comedy show, “The Office.” And the quote is accurate, because Mayfield did not play like an “idiot” on Sunday.

Even though the Titans held an 8-3 record entering Sunday, their defense was problematic throughout the season. Head coach Kevin Stefanski attacked Tennessee’s weakness with some expertly-designed plays, including a touchdown pass to offensive lineman Kendall Lamm.

On the day, Mayfield completed 25-of-33 pass attempts for 334 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions, while posting a passer rating of 147.0. Mayfield threw all four of his scores in the first half, the second-time he’s done so this season (Week 7 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals). This is also the first time this season where Mayfield threw for over 300 yards.

This is the Browns team that we were expecting back in 2019, but they failed to live up to their lofty expectations with Freddie Kitchens at the helm. But with Stefanski, the Browns are finally playing to their potential. They might not win the AFC North, but they’re in the driver’s seat to clinch the top Wild-Card spot in the conference.

We can’t wait to hear what quote Mayfield drops next week if the Browns happen to defeat the Baltimore Ravens. Does he take recommendations?
