3 reasons Seahawks fans should not panic after upset loss to Giants
By John Buhler
1. The utterly toothless New York Jets come to town in Week 14
A 9-7 record likely gets an NFC team a Wild Card berth, but a 10-6 mark feels like it guarantees a club a playoff berth. There are no such things as certain victories. . .unless you are playing the hopeless and flightless, unmitigated disaster known as the New York Jets. Fortunately for Seattle and all the 12s, Gang Green comes to Lumen Field next week, poised to take loss No. 13 in 2020.
Pete Carroll’s team will be ready to get back to work after losing to a team it is better than in the Giants. They will take out their frustrations on a Jets team who lost in heart-breaking fashion at home to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. If the Seahawks do become the first team to fall to the Jets this year, then there will be major, major problems up in the Pacific Northwest.
The good news is that will not happen. Seattle is not a perfect team, but we already knew that. The best part is Seattle does not have to play anything close to perfect to beat the Jets. In fact, they can play like they did against the Giants and still find a way to eke out a victory. Of course, they will be extra motivated to get their ninth win of the season next, so have no worries, guys.
With their remaining games home vs. the Jets, at Washington, home vs. the Rams and at the 49ers, there is a good chance the Seahawks go anywhere between 2-2 and 4-0. Even if the Seahawks only beat the Jets the rest of the way, a 9-7 record should be good enough for Seattle to squeak into the playoffs as the No. 7 team in an expanded field. They will win next week.
Take the loss in stride and get ready to beat the ever-living snot out of the Jets in Week 14.
