Here’s how you know the Chiefs have the best quarterback on the planet: Mahomes had 318 passing yards and one touchdown vs. the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football. It was a quiet night at the office for Mr. Mahomes. The poor guy was kept in check to the tune of a 300-yards passing game and “only” one score.

All in all, the Chiefs won the game against one of their most hated foes, so that’s the takeaway from the box score. Mahomes was just good enough to fend off a familiar opponent. That’s the way it goes for a division game sometimes.

The following night, the Steelers loosened their stranglehold on a perfect season when the Washington Football Team shockingly upended Pittsburgh. The 1972 Miami Dolphins drank wine and celebrated the loss. So did the Chiefs.

Now, the Chiefs and Steelers have the same 11-1 record through 13 weeks of 2020. Pittsburgh owns a tiny tiebreaker over Kansas City, but the first-round bye perk is now extremely achievable for the Chiefs. They will just need the Steelers to drop one more.

Next week for the Chiefs — an away game against the Miami Dolphins. That’s suddenly an exciting matchup.
