Early college football DFS picks December 12: King me!
By Mike Marteny
College football DFS quarterback picks December 12:
Top Tier:
D’Eriq King is the best of the top tier guys based on matchup alone. Mac Jones has a tough Arkansas defense , but this is Ala-damn-bama. They’re always in play.
Malik Cunningham is the Louisville offense, but he has struggled some without Javion Hawkins taking some of the heat off of him. I see Brady White as a better alternative against a Houston defense that has had some issues this year. The numbers aren’t off-the-charts bad, but Brady White is good enough to exploit them.
Middle Tier:
It was a rough game for Grayson McCall last week, but it should be easier going against Troy. He’s probably not going to break a slate, but I think I trust him a little more than Tyler Shough against Washington. J.T. Daniels against Missouri is an interesting pivot. That defense can be had. After all, LSU hung 41 on them even though they still lost.
Memphis has allowed an embarrassing 306.7 passing yards per game and 21 passing touchdowns in nine games. Clayton Tune isn’t a prolific passer, but he may look like it on this slate. Tune has a whole lot of upside at that price.
Taulia Tagovailoa is still too cheap. The Rutgers defense looked good in the opener but has been progressively worse since. I wanted to see Maryland knock off Michigan, but they will have to settle for Rutgers instead. Taulia is going to be a huge part of that.
The Duke defense has been bad in every facet, so Jordan Travis is still in play here. I expect FSU to run plenty, but there is still sneaky upside for Travis here. Duke is allowing 235 passing yards and two passing touchdowns per game.
Bargain Shoppers:
The Oregon defense is having issues this year. Dylan Morris has been remarkably consistent in his freshman season for the Huskies. He’s facing a defense that hasn’t played well and is posting consistent numbers in the high teens. I’ll take that in cash games.
It feels weird watching a Navy defense that can’t stop the run. Tyhier Tyler put up 121 rushing yards in his start last week. I expect a really nice game from him against the Middies and he’s priced like a running back. That helps.
Spencer Petras had his first multi touchdown game of his career last year. There’s decent upside here for as low as the price is. Noah Vedral has a better matchup, but he has been all over the map as far as consistency (or lack thereof) goes.
