6. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Brandon Workman. 0. player. RP. Philadelphia Phillies

Workman was the one reliever over the last two years that Red Sox fans wouldn’t have to avert their eyes when watching. However, upon being traded to the Phillies last season in a last-gasp effort to save their bullpen, Workman was unable to capture that same magic, as he frequently struggled with commanding his sharp curveball. Workman couldn’t have picked a worse time to completely fall off of a cliff as far as his production is concerned. The stuff is tantalizing, but the Giants need to show some restraint.

While the Giants do need to add one more reliever, their bullpen isn’t unwatchably bad, as the Wisler signing plus the return of flamethrower Reyes Moronta signals the fact that this unit will be much improved when compared to last year. Adding Workman, fresh off one of the worst seasons of his career, on a multi-year deal has the potential to actually make that unit regress if he still can’t command his pitches. San Francisco needs to make several cheap additions to give their bullpen some extra depth, not overpaying for a guy who went through a major regression.
