NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 14 Sunday Slates
NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 14 Sunday Slates Tight Ends
Mike Gesicki, MIA vs. KC ($4,500-DK/$5,700-FD)
Gesicki has found the end zone in each of the Dolphins’ last two games, and he’s coming off a season-high nine-catch effort versus the Bengals in Week 13, that, when coupled with 88 receiving yards and a score, netted 23.8 DK/19.8 FD points. Gesicki also logged his second 11-target game of the season in that contest, and he could be heavily involved once again in a Week 14 battle against a Chiefs squad that’s been very good at limiting wide receiver production, thereby funneling more action toward tight ends.
KC checks into Week 14 having allowed a robust 61-670-5 line to TEs, equating to 13.3 DK/10.5 FD points per game surrendered to the position. In turn, the Chiefs have faced the fourth-fewest wide receiver targets in the league due to their stellar work in the secondary, yet have allowed the seventh-most looks (88) to tight ends. Miami figures to have to turn to the pass more frequently as the game goes on, and with the perimeter often a dangerous place to attack Kansas City in (14 interceptions) and Gesicki enjoying plenty of success (12-222-2 on 20 targets) in the short/deep left areas of the field the Chiefs have given up an 81-802-7 line in this season, I like his chances of paying off his modest salaries.
Dalton Schultz, DAL at CIN ($3,500-DK/$5,100-FD)
As already elaborated on earlier in the entries for Dalton and Gallup, Cincinnati can readily be attacked through the air. That certainly includes tight ends, as Gesicki just demonstrated in Week 13. Schultz has similar upside to his Dolphins counterpart, and although he does face fiercer competition for targets, his salaries don’t require him to do an inordinate amount for him to justify his rostering.
The Bengals have given up the fourth-most receptions (67), most receiving yards (822) and third-most touchdown receptions (seven) to tight ends, leading to an average of 16.5 DK/13.3 FD points per game surrendered to the position. Schultz has a consistent role in the air attack that has afforded him 70 targets overall across 12 games. That includes at least five apiece in four of the last five contests, with Dalton the source of 15 of them in the last three games. The third-year pro has nine red-zone looks on the season as well, furthering his case at very reasonable salaries.
