College football DFS quarterback picks December 12:

Top Tier:

The LSU defense got torched by Bama last week. Kyle Trask is probably as good as Mac, but I don’t think that Florida has the receivers to do that much damage. Still, Trask is easily the best quarterback option on this slate and most of them are overpriced.

Max Duggan is $9,200. I rest my case. The Louisiana Tech defense is similar to the Kansas one that got torched by the Toadies. Duggan put up 27.94 DraftKings points in that one and topped it off with 40 against the Cowboys. He’s a superb GPP option here. I want more of a sure thing from cash games.

The Arizona State defense “held” DTR to his lowest total of the 2020 season at 24.58 DraftKings points. This USC defense can be had. Both Arizona schools looked good against the Trojans. I think DTR is in for a nice game in the Battle Of Los Angeles.

Middle Tier:

At some point these big numbers that Brennan Armstrong keeps putting up aren’t a fluke. Only Miami has held him under 25 DraftKings points in a full game. This Virginia Tech defense isn’t going to pull that off. They’ll be lucky to hold him under 40.

The week off did wonders for Kedon Slovis. Well, I suppose it could have been the Cougars defense. The UCLA defense will get after him a little, but I don’t think they can stop him either. However, I don’t think Slovis has the ceiling of Armstrong or DTR for that matter. His price feels a little ambitious to me and it really makes sure we don’t have much of a middle tier.

Bargain Shoppers:

So Hendon Hooker has a problem with the cold now? Do you buy that? I’m not sure I do. That’s coachspeak for neither QB got it done against one of the best teams out there. I’m fine with that. It also means that Hooker has little to no leash. Those savvy enough to use Braxton Burmeister could come out ahead here, but both Hokie quarterbacks are huge risks despite the tasty matchup.

Will Rogers is becoming more comfortable with the volume of throws that he’s required to make. I don’t really like the matchup for him, but Rogers is cheap and is a constant threat for 400 passing yards. He has decent upside for the price.

Remember when we all thought that Bo Nix had turned a corner after that LSU game? That was fun. StarkVegas could provide more fun for Nix. Keep in mind that Auburn has played A&M and Alabama in the last two games. It’s enough to slash the price on Nix despite the nice matchup. He worth trying for the rebound in GPP formats.
