2. Matt Campbell, Iowa State Head Coach

Iowa State Head Coach Matt Campbell deserves a lot of praise this season for turning the Hawkeyes into a dangerous opponent in the Big 12.

The 41-year-old Campbell is a hot commodity among the possible head coaching hires that will make up the 2020 offseason.

Campbell’s current $22.5 million contract with Iowa State runs through the 2023 season and includes an affordable $6 million buyout.

Given Campbell’s familiarity with the Big 12 Conference and the recruiting region, Texas may be the premier program on his wishlist if he moved on from Ames.

Campbell is a two-time Big 12 Coach of the Year winner who has earned wins against two Top-5 opponents in his five years with the Cyclones.

In 2020, Campbell has led the Cyclones to an 8-1 record in conference play, having won two contests against ranked opponents, including the then-ranked No. 20 Longhorns, 23-20, two weeks ago.

Campbell can strengthen his case for a third Big 12 Coach of the Year award with a win against the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 19.
