Dan Bailey cost the Vikings ten points at the worst possible moment.

Bailey missed three field goals and one extra point in a game the Vikings lost by 12. There’s no guarantee they would’ve won had Bailey performed his duty admirably, but it sure would’ve been a lot closer of a contest.

With the loss, the Vikings playoff hopes are pretty much dead, while the Buccaneers are closing in on a Wild Card berth of their own.

Bailey was formerly one of the best kickers in the NFL, especially during his Dallas Cowboys career. However, as is so often the case with place-kickers, Bailey’s lost his mojo. One bad game can cost a kicker his job, and that just might be the case with Bailey.

Vikings fans expressed their frustration with Bailey on Twitter

With the Vikings loss, the Packers can clinch the NFC North should they beat the Lions. Talk about adding insult to injury.

The Vikings dug themselves a hole this season, making a playoff berth unlikely after the first six games. Unfortunately, they now have a face to put on that frustration. Bailey is not the sole reason the Vikings aren’t heading to the postseason. They have their own collective effort to thank for that.

Yet, being so close to a monumental bounce-back effort only to have it slip from your grasp thanks to unforeseen circumstances isn’t ideal, to say the least.

Next. Dan Bailey is kicking like he has money on the other team. dark
