National Signing Day predictions for the Top 25 uncommitted recruits
- High School: Lakeview Centennial (Garland, TX)
- Composite Rankings: No. 26, No. 2 RB
We’ve already mentioned L.J. Johnson as a Texas running back to watch on early National Signing Day, but Camar Wheaton is the other Lone Star State back to keep an eye on as the early signing period approaches.
Like Johnson, Wheaton is a workhorse back with home run potential when he touches the ball. He’s a dependable ball carrier you give the ball to when the game is on the line and a fourth-down conversion is needed.
Wheaton’s pass production has been a bit more than Johnson’s in his high school career. The running back had 20 receptions between 2018-19. As he continues to get more involved in the passing game at the college level, he can continue to round into an incredibly dynamic running back.
The running back’s final two choices are Oklahoma and Alabama. All accounts have shown the Sooners to be leading the chase for Wheaton. If they’re able to get him to sign and a few other uncommitted recruits in this early signing period, then it will be a job well done by Lincoln Riley.
Wheaton’s announcement will come on Dec. 23. Wouldn’t it be poetic if one uncommitted Texas back went to Oklahoma while the other went to the Longhorns?
Prediction: Oklahoma
