1. Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson’s franchise quarterback status

Entering the season, some believed the Browns had made a mistake drafting Mayfield over Jackson. With the third season likely being a “make-or-break” year with quarterbacks, the pressure was on for the former No.1 pick to succeed.

The final three (real) drives alone prove he’s the right man for the Browns’ offense.

With the clock running, Mayfield went for precision instead of deep ball work. He ate up the clock. He kept the ball off the ground, seeing only two passes go for longer than 10 yards. And when all else failed, he kept it himself for the score.

The next drive, a flawless 4-of-4 passing with two going for longer than 20-yard gains. Although the run from Kareem Hunt gave Cleveland the lead, it was Mayfield’s pass that gave him the chance to score.

Mayfield finished 11-of-14 passing with three total touchdowns to bring Cleveland back after being down by 14.

Jackson also was electric in the last drive. He trusted his go-to weapon in Mark Andrews to pick up first downs at a rapid pass. After going 4-of-4, the 2019 MVP spiked the ball to let Justin Tucker seal the game.

In the NFL, everyone talks about how someone “missed” on their guy. What if instead, both teams hit it with theirs?

Over the past three games, Mayfield has thrown for 935 yards and eight touchdowns against one interception. Meanwhile, Jackson is effective with just two receivers thanks to his dual-threat mobility in the open field.

Both teams have a roadmap to success under center. This should be fun matchup fans of the league should enjoy for many years to come.
