2. What is roughing the passer, anyway?

It’s not that! Poor rookie Henry Mondeaux barely ever sees the field for Pittsburgh, and on his first snap commits a ridiculous penalty to give Buffalo a first down. The Steelers were already going up against a juggernaut at home in the Bills, a sentence that feels exceptionally weird to type, I assure you.

Mondeaux hit Allen square in the stomach area, above the knees and below the shoulders. What else is he supposed to do? At this point, hitting Allen at all might as well be made illegal.

The Steelers would lose fair and square do to their own flaws, especially on offense. Ben Roethlisberger looked ancient and even threw a pick-6 to gift Buffalo points before the half. His receivers can’t catch the ball, either, which doesn’t help matters.

Nonetheless, I’m all about fairness…and Mondeaux got screwed.
