Early National Signing Day Winner No. 2: USC Trojans

If there’s one position that makes the world go ’round for the USC Trojans, it’s undoubtedly quarterback. For as much talent as they can put on the defense or otherwise, the Trojans have always been at their best when they have a strong foundation under center. And the early signing period set up USC in that capacity.

On Wednesday, Clay Helton and his staff landed quarterback Jaxson Dart. Not only is he a member of the all-name team, but the signal-caller is the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the class and the No. 103-ranked player in the 2021 class overall. More importantly, Dart coming in sets up the Trojans beautifully at quarterback moving forward.

Dart joins Miller Moss as the two highest-rated recruits that USC has signed as of Wednesday, both of whom happen to be quarterbacks. Moss should be ready to play as soon as Kedon Slovis is gone, while Dart is a developmental prospect who surged up the recruiting rankings late in the process. That sets up a perfect transition for the Trojans over the next few years.

USC started the day with just the No. 15-ranked class nationally but are now flirting with the top 10, moving all the way up to No. 11. With the No. 1 overall recruit, Korey Foreman, locked in their crosshairs still as well, this could be a huge recruiting class for the Trojans.
