Early National Signing Day Loser No. 2: Arizona State Sun Devils

The fact that head coach Herm Edwards and his NFL-experienced staff may have an outside shot at signing Korey Foreman might be one of the only things that the Arizona State Sun Devils and their fans can take away from the early National Signing Day. Because as things currently sit, there have been better days for the program.

With the dust settling on Wednesday, the Sun Devils have only the No. 45-ranked team in the country, according to the 247 Sports Composite. Moreover, they saw their class get picked apart a bit with 3-star wide receiver Dominic Lovett choosing to decommit at the end of last week, leading up to the end of the early signing period.

Perhaps the two biggest knocks on Arizona State at this time, though, were Isaiah Johnson choosing not to sign early. The 4-star cornerback from California is the linchpin of the Sun Devils class, and not having him locked down is a bit disconcerting. On top of that, Edwards and his staff tried to flip 4-star tight end Jermaine Terry, but Cal was able to hold on.

If Arizona State is ultimately able to secure a commitment from Johnson over the next couple of months and make a late push into the top 35 or higher, that would be big. As things currently stand, however, the Sun Devils are left wanting looking at their class.
