Dallas will be picking inside of the top 10 in the 2021 NFL Draft in all likelihood. This projects to be one of the better quarterback drafts in a long time, with four signal-callers expected to go inside of the top 10. No, Dallas will not be in the market to draft Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson or Justin Fields out of Ohio State, but what about Zach Wilson and his absolute cannon out of BYU?

Wilson may not have played against elite-level competition at national independent BYU out of the Group of 5. Then again, can we really let a global pandemic where six Power 5 schools canceled on them get in the way of what it took for the Cougars to have an impressive 2020 campaign? Not only was this team exciting, but it has a potential franchise quarterback in Wilson.

The idea of pairing him with former Mountain West superstar Kellen Moore as his offensive coordinator is very enticing. While drafting the other top-10 quarterback prospect in Trey Lance out of North Dakota State could be an option, Lance only had 17 starts vs. FCS competition, while Wilson has amassed plenty of starts playing for one of the most beloved Group of 5 programs.

The holdup to drafting a player like Wilson inside of the top 10 is Dallas has far more important team-building issues to address than quarterback. If Dallas is picking inside of the top five, the Cowboys could look at a defensive star, or potentially trade back for a team in need of a future starting quarterback like the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers or the Chicago Bears.
