WWE SmackDown Results: Bayley defeats Bianca Belair
WWE TLC 2020 is inching closer and with short time before the event, WWE SmackDown’s go-home show wrapped up the major angles before the network special.
WWE SmackDown’s Friday show was focused on driving home the most important stories heading into WWE TLC on Sunday. Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks, the Street Profits, and others were featured front and center before the promotion’s final Pay-Per-View of the year.
The first match of the evening featured the Street Profits taking on Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode for their SmackDown tag team titles.
Angelo Dawkins and Roode started the match off, but it did not take long before Ziggler got involved to cause the distraction. The Street Profits recovered when Montez Ford got the tag and laid into Ziggler with a dropkick. Ford was trying to end the match early, but he was pushed off the top rope and crashed hard into the barricade outside the ring.
Ford was isolated from Dawkins for much of the match. He was eventually able to get separation and make the tag for Dawkins come in to clear the ring. He was not able to stay in the position of control however, eventually eating a tag team maneuver into the Fameasser, but still kicked out of the pin. Ford would hit the Frog Splash on Ziggler, but Roode made the save. Still, that would not stop him from getting rolled up by Ford, who hooked the tights to get the finish.
The Riott Squad were up next in action against Billie Kay and a surprise partner for the second week in a row. This time she selected Tamina, but that would not change the outcome of the match. Things started out well, as Tamina was beating up both women while Billie Kay cheered on the outside. For a moment it looked like Tamina had the match won, but once again Kay would mess things up and eat a double team maneuver to get pinned.
Otis had a singles match on Friday with his “coach” Chad Gable in his corner. His opponent was Shinsuke Nakamura, who was also out with his partner, Cesaro. Nakamura started off using his experience to control the bigger man, but it was only a matter of time before Otis’s power took over. The match would end when Otis landing the Vader Bomb from the top rope for the win.
Bianca Belair and Bayley have continued their budding feud with a singles match on Friday. Bayley tried to use her in-ring experience to show up Belair early in the match. At first, Belair was able to outpace the former champion, but things would change when Bayley would get her hands on her.
Belair would take the advantage back by forcing Bayley to crash into the steel steps. Bayley kicked out of the pin attempt but was still on the back foot. Bayley tried to take some short cuts but was unable to find a way to get the win. Belair lifted Bayley up for a powerbomb, but Bayley racked the eyes and landed the Rose Plant to get the victory.
