5 teams who should trade for Ezekiel Elliott this offseason
Spurred by Kyler Murray’s prowess as a runner, the Cardinals have a top-5 rush offense in the league entering Week 15. But take that away (54.7 rushing yards per game from Murray) and they would fall to 27th in the league.
Kenyan Drake is averaging 4.2 yards per carry with nine touchdowns this season (12 games), and he has a four-game scoring streak going entering Week 15. But he’s also a free agent after the season, as the Cardinals avoided making a significant commitment after his post-trade surge in 2019. Drake is a slightly above-average running back, nothing more.
Chase Edmonds has made the most of his opportunities this year, averaging 4.9 yards per carry with 46 receptions. The question is whether he can be an every-down back, or if he’s better off in a complementary/passing down role. In any case, the Cardinals will have him around next year.
On track for a third straight 50-plus catch, 70-plus target season, Elliott has proven himself to be a capable pass receiver. The running threat of Murray automatically makes it easier for whoever the running back is when the Cardinals run RPO game, and Elliott might find a career resurgence with another NFC West squad.
