Kellen Mond’s 1-word reaction to Texas A&M getting snubbed from Playoff speaks volumes
By John Buhler
Texas A&M football star Kellen Mond is not pleased about missing the College Football Playoff.
Quarterback Kellen Mond is just like every Texas A&M football fan on this Sunday, as he cannot believe his Aggies are not going to the College Football Playoff this January.
The Texas A&M Aggies were the first team out of the College Football Playoff. They went 8-1 this year, winning their last seven games. While their only defeat on the year was to the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, getting blown out by 28 points earlier in the season is why A&M did not make the four-team field. Regardless, Mond only needed one word to express his frustration: Joke.
Does Kellen Mond have a point about Texas A&M missing the playoff?
The biggest thing Mond and the Aggies would have had going for them is that they are playing better ball at this point of the season then when they fell on the road to the Crimson Tide. His head coach Jimbo Fisher mentioned that Alabama does not have wide receiver Jaylen Waddle available, which would in theory make for a closer potential rematch between A&M and Alabama.
The problem is we have already seen Texas A&M play Alabama this season. As much as southeastern college football fans would embrace a rematch, we know that the rest of the country would tune out if No. 1 Alabama were to play in theory No. 4 Texas A&M. This is why the Notre Dame Fighting Irish got the last spot it. They will draw a bigger television number than the Aggies.
Texas A&M can be bitter, but they have no one to blame but themselves for not getting in.
