NFL quarterback rankings, Week 16: Baker Mayfield is dangerous
2020 stats: 3,569 yards | 67.6 completion % | 29 TDs | 13 INTs | 8.2 YPA | 62.3 QBR
Last Week: 18
Does anybody get more guff than Cousins, who is going to throw for 4,000 yards, 30 touchdowns and average more than 8.0 yards per attempt? The problem is so many numbers come in garbage time, and so he’s an average player with above-average stats.
2020 stats: 3,718 yards | 68.0 completion % | 20 TDs | 12 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 58.9 QBR
Last Week: 11
Goff is a guy, and if he wasn’t propped up by Sean McVay’s scheme. Any top-tier quarterback overpowers problems to beat the Jets. Not Goff. His numbers are incredibly pedestrian.
2020 stats: 4,016 yards | 64.2 completion % | 22 TDs | 11 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 63.7 QBR
Last Week: 17
Ryan had a great first half against Tampa Bay before disappearing. The Falcons have a middling offense, especially without Julio Jones, and while Ryan has been decent, he’s not the MVP-caliber player he once was in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
2020 stats: 3,082 yards | 64.0 completion % | 25 TDs | 8 INTs | 7.6 YPA | 76.6 QBR
Last Week: 15
Mayfield is playing great ball down the stretch. Yes, the play-action is humming and whatnot, but he’s making plays all over. The Browns are a 10-4 contender, and Mayfield is becoming a fantastic compliment to the running game.
2020 stats: 2,461 yards | 64.8 completion % | 21 TDs | 8 INTs | 7.4 YPA | 71.5 QBR
Last Week: 14
The last two weeks, Jackson has looked much better. He’s thrown the ball decently, going for a combined 406 yards, rushed for another 159 yards, and scored seven touchdowns. Not bad.
2020 stats: 3,774 yards | 64.2 completion % | 23 TDs | 9 INTs | 7.6 YPA | 68.0 QBR
Last Week: 13
Is this the end for Stafford in Detroit? Only two more weeks if so. He’s done a terrific job this year. Yeah, the turnovers are problematic, but he’s been without top-tier weapons since Calvin Johnson retired.
2020 stats: 3,735 yards | 68.7 completion % | 22 TDs | 9 INTs | 7.7 YPA | 65.3 QBR
Last Week: 10
Rivers isn’t prolific anymore, but he’s better than some have acknowledged. The Colts have Rivers getting the ball out quick, but he’s still looking at better than 4,000 yards and 25+ passing touchdowns. Not a bad year.
2020 stats: 2,430 yards | 70.5 completion % | 21 TDs | 4 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 75.5 QBR
Last Week: NA
Bluntly, Brees was awful on Sunday. The throws were short, inaccurate and lacking velocity. Still, Brees has to be in the top 10 based on his 2020 body of work, not to mention his career. Look for him to be much better as he recovers from the injuries.
2020 stats: 3,637 yards | 67.6 completion % | 26 TDs | 11 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 69.5 QBR
Last Week: 9
Murray was slinging it on Sunday against the Eagles, throwing for 406 yards and three touchdowns (with an interception) in a critical win. Arizona needs Murray to be great if it wants to make a playoff run — or even make the playoffs in general.
2020 stats: 3,781 yards | 66.5 completion % | 27 TDs | 10 INTs | 7.1 YPA | 68.7 QBR
Last Week: 8
After quietly struggling for the past month, the Chargers’ young phenom was great against the Raiders. Going for 314 yards and two touchdowns to end Las Vegas’ season was a nice way for Herbert to snap out of his mini-funk, as the Chargers try to play spoiler.
