3. Josh Allen, QB (Buffalo Bills)

Last Week’s Ranking: 3rd

Highest Ranking of Season: 2nd (-1)

2020 Stats: 4,000 Passing Yards, 30 Passing TDs, 9 INTs, 68.7% Comp, 104.2 Passer Rating, 8 Rushing TDs

This man is a beast — a young beast.

Finally, Allen is getting the “Mahomes-Watson-Wilson” recognition that he deserves. We spent most of September through November waiting for the bottom to fall out, so to speak. The bottom is intact. Josh Allen is a superstar. Period.

The Bills quarterback has burgeoned into what NFL punditry thought Mitchell Trubisky would be in 2019. Instead, Trubisky was utter rubbish whereas Allen has lived up to the hype — and exceeded it. The 24-year-old is a true mobile quarterback that has now honed his passing accuracy, a character trait that was largely unrefined in 2018 and 2019. This season, Allen is completing passes with precision. That’s what the addition of the handsy Stefon Diggs will do for a young signal-caller.

Standalone seasons from recent memory might have allotted Josh Allen the MVP award. This season, though, the Chiefs and Packers quarterbacks are too formidable to ignore.

Allen’s MVP time will come, just not yet. The more critical aspect of his ascension to stardom is that the Bills have a tangible chance to reach Super Bowl LV.
