2021 NFL Mock Draft: Trevor Lawrence heads to Jacksonville
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won a huge game in terms of their playoff lives this past weekend, and will likely find themselves playing meaningful January football. Tom Brady has been hot and cold this season, but if they can find a way to keep him clean, he is still one of the best in football.
Upfront on the other side of the ball, the Bucs could afford to add an edge rusher, and Carlos Basham Jr. could be one of the more NFL ready ends in this draft class. Basham has the ability to rack up sacks in bunches and would add good young talent to the position group in Tampa Bay.
The Indianapolis Colts are getting steady play from quarterback Philip Rivers, who is playing behind the best offensive line he has had in his career. Rivers is keeping the interceptions at a minimum, and if they continue to win out, they could end up with an AFC South title.
One area they need to improve on the other side of the ball is at cornerback, where a player like Jaycee Horn could be a significant upgrade. This is a guy who can flat out cover, and on this Colts defense, he adds incredible depth and skill at a position that needs both.
The Cleveland Browns are roaring towards a playoff berth, something we have not been able to say about the franchise in quite some time. Cleveland is getting strong play out of quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is taking care of the ball, and that has led to double-digit wins in Kevin Stefanski’s first season as head coach.
On defense, the Browns are loaded with talent as well, but they could use some help at linebacker, which is one of their weak spots. In Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, they get an excellent cover linebacker who can flat out hit, possessing incredible strength and athleticism.
