Bill Belichick took out his anger on sideline phone (Video)

The New England Patriots head coach didn’t like what he heard on the phone, and he destroyed it.

The New England Patriots reached rock bottom last week after they were eliminated form playoff contention. Even though the remaining games on their schedules were meaningless, they could at least attempt to play spoiler against the Buffalo Bills. That didn’t happen, and Belichick was furious.

Head coach Bill Belichick challenged a toe-tap reception made by Bills tight end Dawson Knox along the sideline, because he didn’t think he was in bounds. Belichick went over to the sideline phone, where he was informed that his challenge had failed. The ornery head coach responded by throwing and destroying the phone.

This NFL season hasn’t gone the way Belichick had envisioned. Sure, he knew the team was in cap hell and had little money available to spend, but he has made nearly everyone of his teams competitive. 2020 was a different story.

The Patriots lost a bevy of talent to free agency this past offseason, which included quarterback Tom Brady and linebacker Kyle Van Noy. New England’s offense lacked serious complementary weapons had during their Super Bowl-winning years. Then, there were the player opt outs prior to the start of the season. Hence why the Patriots missed the postseason for the first time since 2008.

We guarantee that no one in New England wants the season to end more than Bill Belichick. At least the team will have over $72 million in cap space to spend next season.
