1. Jalen Hurts was down

It’s tough to say one call cost the Eagles a playoff berth — and doing so here would be an exaggeration — but it certainly didn’t help matters. As the NFC East snaps back to reality, and comes crashing back down to Earth record-wise, the Eagles had a good opportunity to put themselves in the driver’s seat come Week 17. Instead, their comeback attempt fell short in Dallas, in part thanks to a Jalen Hurts so-called fumble.

With two defenders draped all over him, Hurts was clearly down in the open field before the ball squirted out. To make matters worse, this play was reviewed and upheld. The Eagles enter Week 17 as the only team without an opportunity at the NFC East title.

Recap: While not the greatest look heading into the season’s final week, it is a slight improvement from Week 15, in which bad calls literally determined the outcome of games. To say so in Week 16 would be a stretch. Technically, we are trending in the right direction. C.
