College football DFS wide receiver picks December 31:

Top Tier:

San Jose State’s defense is good, but Justin Hall might be better. Still, I kind of think SJSU might shut Hall down the way they did Romeo Doubs. For that reason, Yo’Heinz Tyler might be my favorite Ball State receiver.

As for the top, that leaves Jaden Walley. It’s a tough matchup for him too, but Mississippi State’s short passing game could be fairly successful against Tulsa. We are using Walley based on volume, not touchdowns. We’ll take the 12 receptions instead of the two touchdowns. It’s more of a sure thing.

Middle Tier:

If you buy into the school of thought that SJSU is going to have to throw, you need to pair Nick Starkel with Bailey Gaither. Tre Walker is the big play threat, so a SJSU stack is looking like a better idea all the time. If you use Starkel, you need at least one of the receivers to go with him.

Tulsa’s passing game really struggled against Cincinnati, but it shouldn’t here. JuanCarlos Santana is my favorite option, but you can’t go wrong with Josh Johnson either. If you find yourself strapped for cash, I love the idea of a Tulsa passing game stack. Keylon Stokes and Sam Crawford are worth a look too on the cheap.

Derrick Dease may steal some of the Thunder away from Walker and Gaither. I really like him as a large field GPP play, but I don’t think we can trust him in cash just yet.

Bargain Shoppers:

It’s easy to say that Osirus Mitchell just doesn’t fit the offense and leave it at that. I don’t think that’s true though. Mitchell is still heavily involved in the offense. He could have trouble getting loose against Tulsa, but I do like him at this price just in case he does.

At this point, Antwan Davis is just free points. He has at least five receptions in all but one game this season. Touchdown or not, he’s way too cheap for a sure five point floor.

It’s really hard to get excited about any piece of the West Virginia offense. Winston Wright is the only one I would even consider from the passing game. The Army defense might be the best all-around one on the entire slate.
