5 head coaching candidates for Jaguars after firing Doug Marrone
Daboll first landed in the NFL as an assistant under Bill Belichick in New England from 2000-2006 Since then, his coaching journey looks like this.
New York Jets, QB coach (2007-2008)
Cleveland Browns, Offensive Coordinator (2009-2010)
Miami Dolphins, Offensive Coordinator (2011)
Kansas City Chiefs, Offensive Coordinator (2012)
New England Patriots, Offensive Assistant (2013) and Tight Ends Coach (2014-2016)
University of Alabama, Co-Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach (2017)
Buffalo Bills, Offensive Coordinator (2018-present)
Under Daboll’s tutelage, and with a shift to being more pass-heavy this year, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has put together an MVP-caliber season. Most notably he has completed just over 69 percent of his passes this year, after completing just 58.8 (2019) and 52.8 percent (2018) in his first two seasons.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports connected Daboll to the possible job opening with the Los Angeles Chargers, since he and general manager Tom Telesco went to high school together. But the work Daboll has done with Allen makes him one of the hottest coordinator candidates in this cycle, if not the hottest. The Jaguars should have him high on their list (if not atop their list) to replace Marrone.
