Patrick Mahomes sent out the perfect tweet to get the postseason started.

Patrick Mahomes got the day off Sunday as Chad Henne started at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in what ended up being a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

But the final result didn’t matter as the Chiefs had the No. 1 seed in the AFC locked up. Now Mahomes and the rest of his fellow star teammates are set to get one more week of rest before playing again. This team was expected to be in this position once again and Mahomes sent out the perfect tweet to remind fans this is when their real season begins.

Chiefs look to repeat

Not every win came easy for the Chiefs in 2020. Having 14 wins and the No. 1 seed still makes any talk about margin of victory a bit pointless. Just like in last year’s Super Bowl, Mahomes and the Chiefs found a way to win.

It truly is “go time” for a team that isn’t just pleased with making the postseason for the sixth straight season. The goal from the start has been to repeat as champions.

The Chiefs now await the lowest-remaining seed that advances beyond the Wild Card round. No matter who it is, the Chiefs are going to enter the game as huge favorites at home.

Mahomes lived up to the billing once again in 2020 and should finish in the top-3 of NFL MVP voting. Just your average, everyday numbers of 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns, and only six interceptions en route to leading Kansas City to the best record in football.

The Chiefs will now get a much-needed week of rest. Someone like Mahomes will have to make sure he gets back in the proper mindset after so much time off. His tweet should signal any sort of slow start won’t be a concern.
