Mike Doss #2 of the Ohio State Buckeyes: (Harry How /Allsport) /

9. Mike Doss, Ohio State, S

For the first time on this list, we have a three-time first-team All American by Sporting News. Mike Doss wasn’t only great for one season, his career was insane. His most famous moment came when he intercepted Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey for the Buckeyes in the BCS Championship Game. That earned him Fiesta Bowl MVP honors. He made his biggest plays in the biggest games, and he ended up being a champion.

He was literally born to be in the Hall of Fame. He comes from Canton, Ohio, home to the National Football Hall of Fame. While his pro career isn’t going to knock anyone out, his college career was definitely something to go home about.

Doss had 331 tackles over his career at safety, the most ever for an Ohio State defensive back. He was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2002. Doss was a dominating safety at a time when their importance was growing with passing games taking more prominence.

Doss could get in for his epic interception alone. That helped his team beat a Miami team looking to build a dynasty. However, his body of work speaks for itself. Doss was great for years, even if his legacy comes down to one epic game.
