Travis Kelce – Kansas City Chiefs

Even after another stunning season by George Kittle in 2019, Kelce remained the consensus TE1 in all fantasy formats in 2020 drafts. And, with Kittle on the shelf for much of the season because of injury, Kelce proved he deserved that status with another dominant year for a Chiefs team that appears destined for a return to the Super Bowl.

Kelce broke Kittle’s 2018 record for single-season receiving yardage by a tight end, racking up 1,416 yards across his 15 games – he was rested for the season finale with the Los Angeles Chargers – to go with 11 touchdown catches.

That production saw Kelce finish the fantasy campaign with 312.8 points in PPR scoring, making him comfortably the top scorer among tight ends.

The debate will continue as to the identity of the best tight end in football. Many will still lean Kittle for his all-around impact, particularly in the blocking game. However, in fantasy circles, Kelce has widened his lead.

As a top target in the most explosive offense in football, Kelce has a defined role in the most explosive offense in football, giving him an extremely high floor and ceiling. With the quarterback position in San Francisco unclear and Kyle Shanahan’s offense typically being one that feeds more mouths, Kittle may not quite have the same upside and Kelce should be fantasy TE1 by a decent margin in 2021.
