Bradley Beal ignites for career-high 60 points (Video)
Bradley Beal set a new career high on Wednesday night.
For those who were still wondering why the Washington Wizards have remained so stubborn about not trading Bradley Beal, Wednesday night served as a nice reminder why.
On the road facing the Philadelphia 76ers, Beal ignited for a new career-high with 60 points on 20-of-35 shooting. He went 7-for-10 from 3-point range, made 13 of his 15 free throws and chipped in 7 rebounds and 5 assists for good measure.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to help Washington pull out the win, as the Sixers pulled away late for a 141-136 victory.
Bradley Beal played like a man possessed on a career night
Through three quarters, Beal had already set a new career high with 57 points on 19-of-29 shooting, including 7-for-8 shooting from 3-point range. His previous career high was 55 points back in 2019.
Despite the 27-year-old’s best efforts, the Wizards still trailed by 10 points heading into the final frame, but they were able to tie it up with four minutes to go. From there, the 76ers managed to get stops as Beal went cold, shooting just 1-for-6 from the field for only 3 points in the fourth quarter.
In any case, Beal has established himself as one of the best scorers in the league after averaging 30.5 points per game last year and putting up 30.6 points per game through seven games this year. It’s no wonder the Wizards would prefer to try and build around him rather than trade him somewhere and start the process all over.
