College football team ready to make a leap No. 1: Georgia Bulldogs

Bowl Result: Def. Cincinnati 24-21 in Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Considering that the Georgia Bulldogs are one of the top teams in the SEC and that Cincinnati, although they entered the Peach Bowl undefeated, is a Group of 5 program, it might seem odd to have Kirby Smart‘s club as a program set to make a leap after their bowl win. After all, they barely squeaked by to get the victory over the Bearcats.

But there are two things that must be considered. The first is that the Bulldogs were extremely short-handed for the game due to draft opt-outs and injuries. The second is that Cincinnati, though they came out of the AAC, was one of the best defensive teams in the country. And despite all of this, the Dawgs still came out on top.

One thing that has plagued Georgia over the years is an offense that didn’t have an extra gear. Since JT Daniels took over at quarterback, however, that has changed. And now Daniels is set to return in 2021 with a host of extremely talented weapons and an offensive line that should be quite good.

Oh, and let’s not forget that the Bulldogs had the best recruiting class for 2020 and those players, after this season, should be ready to step into larger roles and make an impact. When you look at the offense finally adding another dimension in the deep passing game with the immense talent on the roster, a National Championship should be the goal for Georgia next season as they come off the Peach Bowl win.
