Eagles sign former college quarterback with position switch in mind

According to NFL Network’s Todd Pelissero, the Eagles have agreed to terms with former Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson on a reserve/future deal.

At 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, Jackson certainly looks the part.
Per Pelissero’s report, Jackson will have a shot to compete for a job at tight end.
Could Jackson’s signing meaning the end of Zach Ertz in Philadelphia?
Jackson, who stands and 6-7 and weighs 250 pounds, was not drafted in the 2019 draft following a promising career with the Buffaloes. While was invited to Bills training camp that offseason, the team elected to waive him before the start of the 53-man roster.
Jackson then took his talents to the inaugural season of the XFL. Drafted by the D.C. Defenders, the former pocket-passer actually saw action following a midseason implosion from former Ohio State standout Cardale Jones.
The Eagles are expected to move on from veteran tight end Zach Ertz, who currently is looking for a new deal this offseason. Meanwhile, fellow tight end, Richard Rogers, will be an impending free agent.
If the team moves off Ertz, Dallas Goedert would be the only tight end on the roster expected to return. Last season, the third-year pro missed time with a lower-body injury but finished the season on the right note. He tallied 46 catches for 524 yards and three touchdowns.

If Jackson works out, the Eagles would have a massive red zone threat to work with next season. Much like the Washington Football Team, sometimes a quarterback is better suited in the open field rather than under center.
Thomas, who played quarterback for Virginia Tech, will be coming off a career season in which he collected 72 catches for 670 yards and six touchdowns.
If all else fails, at least it will be fun to see Jackson and Greg Ward Jr. battle it out for emergency quarterback.
