AFC South. . Jacksonville Jaguars. 2.. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 52

The Jaguars earned the No. 1 pick in April’s draft, costing general manager David Caldwell and head coach Doug Marrone their jobs along the way.

If the Jaguars get Urban Meyer to be their head coach, and naturally give him great power in the organization, they maybe content to take Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields first overall after going into free agency with the most cap space in the league. But it’s also hard to imagine Meyer, health concerns or not, doing well with a bad record in his first year as an NFL head coach — even if it’s the first year of a building process.

Regardless of who the head coach is, the Jaguars have a case to go all-in and make an offer for Watson centered around the No. 1 pick. After Bill O’Brien gutted the Texans’ draft capital in his ill-fated role as GM, Jacksonville has an extra first-round pick and some extra picks overall in April’s draft. The No. 1 pick will surely get Caserio’s attention, and Jacksonville may even be able to keep the second 2021 first-round pick they have via the Los Angeles Rams.
