This Dwight Howard eurostep is the silliest thing we’ve ever seen

Dwight Howard’s attempt at a eurostep as the 76ers battled the Nets had players and fans on Twitter flummoxed by the lack of a traveling call.

Dwight Howard learned something from Lebron James during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers: The art of the eurostep travel and how to get away with it.

On Thursday night, the Philadelphia forward cut through the Brooklyn defense for a layup in less-than-legal fashion.

The best part of the highlight is Brooklyn’s Joe Harris and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot giving simultaneous impressions of the Confused Travolta meme while waiting for the refs to penalize the very obvious violation.

The 76ers Dwight Howard got away with one against the Nets

The rules of basketball are murky sometimes, but receiving the ball, taking two steps, then dribbling definitely isn’t supposed to be allowed.

Fortunately for the Nets, the basket didn’t mean much in the context of the game. Despite being without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, Brooklyn went on to win 122-109. It was just the second loss for Philadephia this season.

Howard played 15 minutes before fouling out with nine points and 12 rebounds. Coming off the bench this season, he has averaged 5.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

There weren’t ramifications to Howard’s layup, but there may be bigger issues coming out of the game. Seth Curry tested positive for COVID-19 during the game and the 76ers are now quarantining in New York pending contact tracing.

The 76ers are scheduled to play Denver on Saturday but they’ll likely have to do so without Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Danny Green, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, Vincent Poirier and Paul Reed,  who are all listed as questionable under health and safety protocols, per Shams Charania.
