RB . Green Bay Packers. Jamaal Williams . 2. 49. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

Carlos Hyde signed a one-year deal after a 1,000-yard season with Houston Texans. Chris Carson spent the past four seasons as the lead back and posted two 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Injuries have cost Carson multiple games throughout his career, thus diminishing his value. Could Seattle bring him back on a team-friendly deal? Sure, but who’s to say that the fourth-year pro would take that. The Seahawks could let him walk and trust former first-round pick Rashaad Penny to be the feature back.

Much like Hyde and Carson, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams will be up for negations in Green Bay. Of the two, the Packers would likely allow Williams to walk since Jones is a versatile weapon. No one truly knows what Williams’ potential is, but 2020 showed growth with a career-best in yards per carry at 4.2.

Since being drafted, Penny hasn’t shown he has the skills to be the feature back. When Seattle has a run game, the offense is one of the league’s best. Williams also does a great job in pass protection sets as a blocker.

Williams always has been a No. 2 in Green Bay, meaning he’ll be a cheap option. For the right price, let him take over as the lead back for Seattle’s run game.
