Bears will dump Mitchell Trubisky unless he pulls off a miracle

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Chicago Bears won’t bring back Mitchell Trubisky as the starter unless he goes on an impressive postseason run. 

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but Mitchell Trubisky may not return next season as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. In what’s been a rollercoaster ride of a career for the former No. 2 overall pick in The Windy City, Trubisky indeed may be playing his final game with the team on Sunday.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears are getting ready for life after Trubisky. However, the young signal-caller could save his job and remain with the team if he powers his squad to an impressive postseason run. Will he be able to get the job done?

Mitchell Trubisky will have plenty on the line against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday

Trubisky’s journey to landing a new contract from the Chicago front office will begin on Sunday in a Wild Card Round showdown against the New Orleans Saints. The Saints, led by Drew Brees, are favorited to take down the Bears in this one.

With that being said, Trubisky sure knows what’s on the line. If he struggles and Chicago goes on to get embarrassed at the Superdome, Trubisky will surely be on his way out.

However, if he helps Chicago take down New Orleans and he looks strong in the process, it’ll go a long way in his reps being able to work a new deal with Chicago.

In the past year, Trubisky has been benched, seen his fifth-year option get declined and have Bears fans go from hating him to loving him again. We’ll see if he’ll be able to step up and not only help the Bears get a win on Sunday, but earn himself a new contract in the process.
