ESPN’s College GameDay crew took the plunge and gave their picks for the National Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State.

It’s not a college football matchup until ESPN’s College GameDay weighs in with their picks.

Ahead of Monday’s national title bout between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ohio State Buckeyes, it was up to David Pollack, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso to predict the outcome.

Will it be the Heisman-winner DeVonta Smith leading the Tide to victory? Or will it be the banged-up Justin Fields providing the heroics for Ohio State?

Here’s how the College GameDay crew voted…:

Pollack: Alabama

Howard: Alabama

Corso: Ohio State

That’s right, the Buckeyes got the headgear pick because of Corso’s great love for Brutus.

College GameDay expects Alabama to win the national title

Does the panel have it right? We’ll all find out as Alabama and Ohio State battle it out in Miami.

The two powerhouses have both worked incredibly hard to get there. The Tide bullied their way through the SEC with 12 wins and zero losses. Then they took care of business by dispatching Notre Dame in the CFP semifinal.

The Buckeyes started late but finished strong. Riding a perfect 6-0 record into the CFP, they got revenge on Clemson and picked up some serious legitimacy from their performance in the Sugar Bowl. No one is doubting whether they deserved to be in the Top 4 now.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter what the experts expect. It’s all about what happens on the field. For Alabama, it’s about capping their dominating season with the ultimate prize. For Clemson, it’s about proving the world wrong against all the odds.

Someone is going to lift the trophy by the night’s end.
