Ohio State’s Trey Sermon hospitalized after opening possession of National Championship
By John Buhler
Trey Sermon has been hospitalized after sustaining a collarbone injury on the first possession.
On the Ohio State Buckeyes’ first possession of the game, star running back Trey Sermon had to head to the locker room with an apparent injury. He has since been hospitalized at Broward General to evaluate his collarbone.
Ohio State football fans must be crushed over the status of their important offense piece. He is too banged up to continue and will not be able to do anything the rest of the way. This is a major issue for Ohio State if they want to upset the No. 1-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide in the national championship. Sermon has been instrumental in his first year in Columbus for Ryan Day’s team.
How will Ohio State respond without Trey Sermon the rest of the way?
Losing Sermon hurts the Buckeyes in their quest to win a national title but Master Teague and the rest of the Ohio State offense must pick up the slack since he cannot return. Ohio State has very little margin for error in this game. Alabama is seen as the overwhelming favorite to win the College Football Playoff. Look for Teague and quarterback Justin Fields to carry the burden now.
