If the Braves don’t act quickly, they’ll lose any chance at keeping Marcell Ozuna.

And for all we know, that may be fine with Alex Anthopoulos. Reports suggest that the Braves prioritize making improvements to their outfield this offseason, rather than third base. In that, Atlanta is probably out on Cubs star Kris Bryant.

The Braves have made significant upgrades to their pitching staff this offseason, signing the likes of Charlie Morton to sure up a position of need before Spring Training begins. While the lineup was deemed a strength by the end of last season, that won’t be the case if they lose — and fail to replace — Marcell Ozuna.

Ozuna’s interest is finally picking up

If the Braves wish to keep their star outfielder, they’re going to have to act fast. The Dodgers reportedly have interest in his services, as well as a number of other contenders.

Per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, “Marcell Ozuna’s market has begun to take shape in recent days, with source saying both AL and NL teams are involved despite uncertainty over DH rule across #MLB. Some clubs are comfortable with him as an everyday left fielder.”

Yes, per Morosi, the one knock on Ozuna may not even impact his market. His bat is that good, and he flashed a ton of power in 2020. In just 60 games, Ozuna hit .338 with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs.

There’s more where that came from, and should the Braves not commit to a long-term deal soon, Ozuna will be wearing different colors come the start of the 2021 season. Unless Atlanta has a capable backup plan, they better act while they have a chance.
