Chiefs playoff stats with Patrick Mahomes under center are other-worldly
The Kansas City Chiefs have been scary good in the postseason with Patrick Mahomes under center.
Can anyone stop the Kansas City Chiefs in their quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions? Good luck to anyone who thinks they have a shot, as Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and others are sitting on top of the world right now.
Ever since Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback, he’s been sensational with the ball in his hands, especially in January and February. But, just how good has the $502 million quarterback been in the postseason?
Patrick Mahomes’ stats in the playoffs for Kansas City is downright unreal
I mean, this is astonishing. With Mahomes running the offense in the playoffs, Kansas City is averaging nearly 36 points per game, have never scored less than 31 points and each victory has been in double digits. Do these stats help Andy Reid sleep at night? Probably.
Now in 2020, Kansas City has the No. 1 seed in the AFC after going 14-2 in the regular season. Following the bye for the Wild Card Round, the team is now getting ready to host the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round. The Browns upset Pittsburgh on the road, but they’ve surely got a much taller mountain to climb in facing the Chiefs.
Mahomes was superb during the regular season, throwing for 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns and six interceptions. If it wasn’t for Aaron Rodgers throwing for 48 touchdowns in 2020, Mahomes would have been the clear favorite to take home MVP honors.
He’ll certainly settle for helping the Chiefs win another Lombardi Trophy, as Kansas City is looking to once again get the job done. With Mahomes playing so well, especially in the clutch, Chiefs fans might have another parade to get ready for.
