Scouting Report. Pep Hamilton . 1. Pick Analysis. QB Coach. Los Angeles Chargers. player. 13

Tomlin is going to have to move off Roethlisberger this offseason. The team has a long history of respecting their players, but there’s always a breaking point where the parties need to cut loose. Roethlisberger’s final game saw him commit four turnovers and the team will be getting younger on the offensive line.

It just doesn’t make sense to bring back a veteran who won’t play up to his $41 million deal.

The Chargers time under Anthony Lynn ended on a sour note. The former head coach should be given an opportunity to become an offensive coordinator once again. However, Lynn wasn’t the only name that helped Justin Herbert become a rookie sensation.

Pep Hamilton, who also played a huge part in Herbert’s progression, might be a better fit in the Steel City.

The former XFL head coach has college and professional experience, bridging the gap between a rookie’s struggles and veteran leadership. Herbert needed to develop slowly, so Hamilton adjusted his calls to help the rookie become a star. His passing attack finished top 10 while the run game would have been top 12 if Austin Ekeler remained healthy all season.

Other names with more experience would fit the bill, but the Steelers need to find their next franchise quarterback this offseason. Development early on will be the difference between a bust or breakout name. Few might have that skill set to help a quarterback achieve greatness like Hamilton.
